Abstract Widi Ayu Atuti, 11.1.01.08.0215, A Study on Good Teachers’ Practices in EFL Instruction at SMPN 1 Tulungagung in Academic Year 2014/2015, Skripsi, English Department, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education Nusantara PGRI Kediri, 2015 Key words: Study, Good Teachers’ Practices in EFL In teaching and learning process, the role of the teachers are very important. Their roles don’t stop as an instructor in the class but students look to teachers as parents in some cases and counselors. Thus, English teachers are demanded to have competence in English teaching to guide their pupils in conveying the material. But there are many teachers who are still not qualified and just teaching in which they don’t prepare anything before in class. It makes students not enjoy, not interest, and get bored in class. This research aimed to know teachers frame/design EFL instruction and to describe teachers form of classroom instruction in English teaching learning process at SMPN 1 Tulungagung in academic year 2014/2015. The research design was used by the researcher is qualitative research. This research took place in SMPN 1 Tulungagung March 2015. The subject of this research is two teachers and two classes of SMPN 1 Tulungagung. In this research, the researcher used observation, field notes, questionnaire, interview and documentation to get the data The conclusion of this research is good teachers‘ practices in EFL instruction was implemented. When teaching and learning in class, teachers professional when taught students and it makes students enjoy and interest in learning English. The activity begins from pre teaching activity, whilst teaching, planning and implementation. And the result of questionnaire from VIII-L, the result of questionnaire 90.625% students enjoyed when teacher taught English. They prefered discussion and it was proved, 90.625% students answered yes. And 85.375% students asked to their friends if they did not understand about the material, beside that the students asked to teacher. And the result from VIII-O, they agreed that discussion made students enjoy and easy to understand the material,the result 87.5% students answered yes. The researcher also gives some suggestions to the English teachers, it’s always try to develop their skill and knowledge by joining in many teachers’ training in regency and province level even in international forum. Furthermore, the researcher hopes that this research can give more information and contribution in conducting similar topic of discussion.
