Vocabulary is a component of language that maintains all of information about meaning and using word in language. Vocabulary building is really important in any language learning especially for the second language learners. Unfortunately, most students in VII grade of Junior High School are not interested in learning English, because they think that learning English is so boring, difficult, and cannot be used in their life. Another reason because they didn’t know the meaning of the words. But, the students seem interested in learning vocabulary by using PowerPoint presentation. Here, software of presentation may be an alternative technique to do. By PowerPoint presentation, the situation of the class will be interesting, it makes the students enjoy the teaching learning process. Besides, the students’ motivation increases. Based on the problem, the purposes of the research is to know the implementation of PowerPoint in teaching vocabulary and what are advantages and disadvantages of teaching vocabulary by using PowerPoint presentation. Considering that the study on teaching vocabulary greatly contributes to the language learning process, the researcher uses “PowerPoint” to teach vocabulary to the seventh grade students of SMP PGRI 1 Kediri. PowerPoint are helpful and easy to use for presenting the materials. PowerPoint presentations can be used in classrooms for various teaching and learning process, for students’ projects, practice, drilling, games, reviews and tests. It is a qualitative research. It describes how to teach vocabulary by using PowerPoint presentation. The instruments of the research are observation, interview and documentation. In observation the researcher sat at the back of the class and observed the teaching learning process of vocabulary by using PowerPoint presentation. After the observation the researcher interviewed the student and the teacher by using question list. In documentation the researcher took photo and videos to support the observation and the interview. The result of the checklist shows that 60% students are interested in learning vocabulary by using PowerPoint presentation. As the result, teaching and learning process of vocabulary by PowerPoint presentation increases student’s motivation. Students really enjoy the process of teaching and learning vocabulary. Teaching vocabulary by this media helps the students to learn new worlds.
