Abstract

Abstract The purpose of this research is to know the students’ speaking ability after being taught using group investigation and to find whether there is any effect of Group Investigation on the students’ speaking ability of eight grades. This study design is quantitative experimental which is used to investigate the effect of using Group Investigation to the students’ speaking ability at the eighth grade students. This research took place at UPTD SMPN 2 Gurah Kediri. The subject of the research is eight grades student of UPTD SMPN 2 Gurah Kediri consist of 40 students. Based on the result of this study, it is found that Group Investigation has effect to the students’ speaking ability. It is also supported by the result of the data which has been computed by the formula of t-test that the score of t-score (11.413) is higher than t – table in significant 1% (2.750) and 5% (2.042). From the data analysis, it can be seen if group investigation has an effect on students speaking ability.
